This means driving without unnecessary luggage in your boot and it means getting rid of any items in the passenger seats that you don’t need. It will make a fractional difference to the amount of fuel you use, but over time this all adds up. Likewise you should aim to conserve energy in other ways too – for instance don’t have your air conditioning up high if you don’t need it, and make sure you keep your lights off when you don’t need those too.
At the same time you should work on making your car as aerodynamic as possible – which means keeping your windows closed for instance which can add unnecessary air resistance. At the same time you should try to drive in an eco-friendly manner when you are driving with cargo trailers. This is called ‘eco-driving’ and it means doing things like giving the cars ahead of you more space so that you have more time to react to them by taking your foot off of the gas rather than breaking suddenly.
