If you’re looking for the right type of boat trailer, there are a few things to keep in mind, and a few key components to look into.

• Trailer lighting: Make sure that the wiring is not done cheaply since poorly wired lights can result in burnt out bulbs and corrosion. Make sure the lights come on when you connect the trailer. It’s never a good sign to see no lights or ones that are dim.

• Tires: So many people try to save money by getting cheap tires for their trailer, but the UV rays can deteriorate the rubber. Even though there isn’t a lot of driving done with the trailer, you want to take care of it.
• Bearings: Perhaps the biggest problem with these trailers is the bearings. You want to make sure you are taking care of them as well as keeping it lubricated. This prevents damage and leaks from the water over time.

Make sure that you get a trailer that is the right size for your boat. Too many times people get a smaller trailer and this never ends well.
