Preparing your utility trailer for storage

The main functionality of utility trailers is to ensure a safe transportation of large items that normally cannot be fit well in trucks or regular cars. However, the problem with them is that since they are not used very frequently, they are stored most of the times. The good news is that preparing an utility trailer for storage is quite simple, as they do not have engines or fuel components to account for. Therefore, a few days before storing it, wash it with mild detergent and water to remove dust and debris and let it dry completely.

The next thing that you will need to do before storing it is to ensure the tires are properly inflated. In general, you can find the recommended tire pressure marked on it and it is advisable that you respect it to prevent the trailer from deteriorating. As a side note, you will need to check the tire pressure on a constant basis. The accessories of the trailer should be detached and placed in a clean and dry plastic bag for safe keeping. Now you are ready to store it. It is important to note that the best storage places are indoors. However, even if you place it indoors, you will still need to cover it with a protective tarp.
